QR Sleigh: The Day My Advent Calendar Unlocked a Rave

(A fictional holiday short story)

I opened the advent calendar expecting amazing dark chocolate shaped like a boot. But instead door 12 had a QR code labeled:“ACCESS YOUR HOLIDAY DESTINY: REMIX MODE.”
Obviously I scanned it.
Obviously the room changed color.
Suddenly my living room morphed into a neon-lit runway, scented like cinnamon hairspray and charged with the bassline of a techno-pop remix of Vess' "Gingy Nation" featuring a synth solo that may or may not have been sentient.
Then came the wardrobe drop.
We’re talking:
asymmetrical puffer jumpsuit
chrome earmuffs with subwoofers
Boots that clinked like peppermint shot glasses every time I moved
And just when I thought I had adjusted to the vibe, the ornaments on my tree stood up, clapped twice, and requested “anything but Mariah.”
Cue: full-blown ornament rave.
Hot pink jingle cubes rolled in and started vibrating to the bass. Tinsel tangled itself into rave braids. My tree did a full body wave. Somewhere in the chaos, my cat got a job as a fog machine technician.
And I said yes to every beat drop like I was headlining North Polepalooza.
Moral of the story?
Don’t sleep on Day 12.
And never underestimate a QR code in December.
Your holiday destiny might just include a techno cat, sentient ornaments, and a puffer that makes you strut like you own Santa’s afterparty.
